I really enjoyed reading your well researched and written article. Like you rightly pointed out, the internet has opened up new opportunities regarding content creation and distribution and as a result- there is need for a new framework that guides intellectual property on the internet. This will happen very soon, I am sure of that. yet, it is worth pointing out that nationalistic sentiments are beginning to affect the internet( a place where hitherto the lines between borders were thinned out). No matter the events of the first two decades of the internet, politics will always find a way around any human endeavour. The events of the past year and this year. First Huawei vs US and now Tik Tok vs China, Tik Tok vs India has opened up the deep seated insecurities nations have had against each other. According to Quartz reports and Tech Cabal, we are beginning to see some African nations create new tax policies for Tech firms that do not have physical presence in said territories/countries. What do you think about this? Are there fears that content creators who do not have a large following are at risk of never reaching their potentials should these tasks policies be implemented? What are the implications for social media coys? Will there be restrictions according to location/political leanings in the future?
